Trip to Ghandruk - Annapurna Region

Ghandruk Trek is an easy and short hiking trip to Annapurna Conservation Area of Nepal. This hiking grants to experience the integrity of rural lifestyle and pristine nature of Annapurna region. The major highlight of this trekking is Ghandruk village. Ghandruk is the second largest settlement Gurung people, one of the indigenous groups in Nepal. In this village, about 270 Gurung families are staying in a charming cluster of slate-roofed houses surrounded by neatly terraced fields.


Located at an altitude of 1940 meters/6360 feet above sea level this beautiful hamlet is framed by superb mountain views of Mount Annapurna South (7219 meters/ 23684 feet), Mount Machhapuchhre/ Fishtail (6993 meters/22943 feet) and Mount Hiunchuli (6441 meters/ 21132 feet).

To join this trekking from Kathmandu you fly to Pokhara, the beautiful town in western Nepal famous as the city of Lakes.. In the route, you pass through rhododendron and orchid hang forest. Leaving Dhampus the trail climbs to Pothana then after short down and up it reaches Tolka. After night stopover at Tolka the trail downhill to Landruk, a prosperous Gurung village.

After crossing Modi Khola over suspension bridge you climb gently to Ghandruk village. In Ghandruk it’s worthwhile to visit Gurung Traditional Museum, Buddhist Monasteries, and visitor center of Annapurna Conservation Area Project. From Ghandruk it’s all the way downhill walking to Modi Khola at Syauli Bazaar. Then you follow the river valley through birch forest and rice terraces to Birethanti followed by Nayapul. You end you hiking at Nayapul and drive to Pokhara. From Pokhara, you back to Kathmandu.


Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Day 02: Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara, drive to Phedi 1130m and trek to Dhampus Village
Day 03: Trek from Dhampus Village to Tolka
Day 04: Trek from Tolka to Ghandruk Village
Day 05: Trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul and drive back to Pokhara,
Day 06: fly back to Kathmandu – visit to Boudhanath
Day 07: Visit Moonlight School
Day 08: Fly back to home

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Arrival in Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport and you will be met at the airport by our representative and transfer to Hotel by private car. Welcome drink and after you settle into the hotel there will be a group briefing with your tour leader. He will discuss the trip details and co-ordinate any last minute arrangements. Overnight at deluxe hotel in Kathmandu


Day 02: Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara, drive to Phedi 1130m and trek to Dhampus Village
Fly to Pokhara in the Morning then drive to Phedi which takes about 45 minute. We will start to climb steeply for an hour and then less steep climb up through the Rhododendron forest with following a stone staircase until reaching on the top of ridge which takes about 1 hour. Today, we will see panoramic and sunset views of world’s most scenic mountains ranges including the mountains above the 8000 Meters. Walking 3 hours. Overnight at tea house in Dhampus Village.


Day 03: Trek from Dhampus Village to Tolka
In the morning after breakfast, we will gently climb up through the rhododendron and oak forest until reaching Pothana which takes about 1 and half hour. We can see the excellent view of Mt. Fishtail. The trail takes another 1 hour climbs through the rhododendron forest to a pass with views of the Mardi Khola far below and the panoramic views of Annapurna South and Hiun Chuli to the north, and Pokhara and Phewa Lake to the southeast when we will reach Deurali. Then, we will make a steep descent through the forests into a huge side canyon of the Modi Khola and arrive at Bheri Kharka, a superb of the large Gurung village of Bichok, far below after a 1 hour climbing down. We will have lunch there and after lunch, we will descend to the head of the valley on the upper trail cross a stream over the suspension bridge. Then we climb gently out of the side canyon on flagstone steps until reaching Tolka which takes about 1 and half hour. Walking about 4-5 hours in total. Overnight at tea house in Tolka Village.


Day 04: Trek from Tolka to Ghandruk Village
After breakfast regular day hike will commence again- first you will be drop down to the Modi Khola River bank nearby Bee Hive Teahouse lodge and cross the bridge then the trail goes through hill terraced field climb up to Ghandruk village. Ghandruk is nice village to hang around, main habitants of Gurung ethnical groups and they are popular Gurkha soldier family. Walking about 4-5 hours in total. Overnight at tea house in Ghandruk Village.


Day 05: Trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul and drive back to Pokhara
we will see panoramic and sunrise views of world’s most scenic mountains ranges including the mountains above the 8000 Meters and after this we will have a breakfast then we will leave this village and walk down on the stone paved stone staircase for a while and viewing Landruk village just opposite side of us. After a 2 hours walk down from Ghandruk village, we arrive in Syaulibazar. Then, we will follow the road way along the Modi Khola until reaching Birethanti which takes about 1 and half hour. We cross a river over an iron bridge and have our lunch there. After lunch, we continue 30 minutes further to Nayapul along the Modi Khola and our car will be there to pick up. Then, we drive back to Pokhara by car which takes about 1 hours and transfer to Hotel. . After getting to Pokhara rest for while at the hotel and visit the lake for a nice view of the lake and mountains. (Walking about 4-5 hours). Overnight at deluxe hotel in Pokhara.


Day 06: fly back to Kathmandu – visit to Boudhanath
This Morning we fly to Katmandu, a thrilling flight over forests, fields and villages, with the Himalaya in the background. After you get to Kathmandu, you will visit to Boudhanath. Overnight at deluxe hotel in Kathmandu.

Boudhanath Stupa is the largest stupa in Nepal and the holiest Tibetan Buddhist temple outside Tibet. It is the center of Tibetan culture in Kathmandu and rich in Buddhist symbolism. The stupa is located in the town of Boudha, on the eastern outskirts of Kathmandu.


Day 07: Visit Moonlight School
After having Breakfast, we will drive to Moonlight School and spend a time with Moonlight Kids at the school where you can teach and play games with the children as well as have a lunch together with the Moonlight Children and Teachers at Moonlight School. Overnight at deluxe hotel in Kathmandu


Day 08: Fly back to home
